a weekend, a 5k and a party

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty excellent if I do say so myself.

Friday night was our typical night at home mostly. We did pop over to the always delish Soda Grill for burgers, fries and ice cream for Miles. Not the best pre-race fuel but who am I kidding… I had about zero aspirations for Saturday’s 5K.

Saturday morning I even contemplated scraping the race and just going the gym like I was really wanting to. But I had already paid for the race and I needed 1 more 5K this season to complete a 5K challenge at work to qualify for a sweet jacket so I sucked it up and headed over to Sheffield. I was glad it was a small 5K that was just an easy out and back on one of my favorite running paths.

I started out a tad fast, no surprise there. You see… I’ve only be doing 1-2 mile runs at the gym + lifting. I basically have taken the summer off from running much at all. So my 8:40ish first mile felt a lot faster and I knew mile 2 would not be much fun. Mile two was around 9:30ish and mile 3.1 was around 9:50ish I think?

Since it was an out and back race I knew there weren’t that many ladies in front of me but I was totally shocked that I landed a 2nd place in my age group! Sure, I’ll take it.

I also got to schmooze with the sister, mother and grandmother of the famous OUaL which was fun. They are good peeps.

The remainder of Saturday was spent roasting a chicken, hanging with some of our besties on a perfect fall evening on the deck and lots of laughter.

Sunday was a great girls day! I invited some ladies over for a sweater-swap and Stella & Dot party. It was super fun even though I put all my guests through hell trying to arrive as the Wollybear parade was in action. Good job by me!

Have you ever participated in a clothing swap? Do you love S&D jewelry as much as I do? Is anyone else overwhelmed by all the good tv back on right now?

I know, it’s like, “Oh THAT’S where all the cool came from! Good gene pool!” and also isn’t it weird how short they are?

I can’t wait for fires and OH ice cream. Even if it’s too cold to eat it comfortably.

FYI: Heidi Bowman, Muskie and Kianu, is a S&D seller (?) Probably not the right word, but you get my drift. My new favorite earrings are from her/S&D!

Nice job on the 5k!! You still got it!
My DVR is blowing up right now. I already can’t keep up. But we never let New Girl sit unwatched for more than an hour. #1 on our list!
