Bic Bands: Review & Giveaway

I have a lot of hair. It happens to get a tad crazy when I get sweaty too. I mean just look at this hot mess:

There’s nothing I hate worse during a workout either than sweaty hair sticking to my face. That’s why you’ll always seem me wearing a headband of some sort when breaking a sweat. That’s why when BIC Bands sent me some goods to test I knew it was right up my alley.

I couldn’t wait to rock my Skinny Hot Pink BIC Band for the marathon. Not only did it match my race gear perfectly, it was just the little sparkle that I needed!

I’ll tell you what, that thing did not move. Not at all. I had it on for 8 hours and ran 26.2 miles and it did not move. The rest of my hair went CRAZY but that BIC Band held strong.

Before 26.2 & After 26.2:

Seriously, it didn’t move. And it sparkled. Win – win! The rest of my hair, not so much a win.

Another great thing about BIC Bands is that they donate $1 from every band sold to charity. They pick a different charity each month!

I’m also loving this Pink Hawaiian Twist Skinnie Minnie they sent me. I wear it around constantly! It’s perfect to keep my hair out of my face between washes and I love it with a pony tail!

The reason these bands don’t slip is that they inside has a super soft velvet material that grips your hair. They were designed by a runner, who knew the frustration of slipping headbands! I love that BIC stands for Because I Can. I can run a marathon! I just did!

I’ve only been rocking the BIC Bands for a short time and I can already say they are legit and I totally love them! Now get excited, because one of you is going to get this super cute Orange Dots BIC Band!

Lots of ways to enter! Leave a separate comment for each entry. Entries due by 12 PM on October 26th.

*I was provided free BIC Bands to review and giveaway. All opinions of these awesome bands are my own.

Everyday Endurance–Review & Giveaway!

Published on: October 6th, 2011

Endurance. Hard to gain, easy to lose. It’s such a valuable little gem.

This spring when I really started making running a priority my endurance was non-existent. Many runners, and other athletes, know just how painful it can be to get back in shape. And every time in my life I’ve gone through that painful ‘getting it back’ phase I always promise to not let myself lose my endurance and have to go through it again. I love my current active lifestyle and don’t want to let it go, ever again.

That’s why I was so excited to receive and review some goodies from Everyday Endurance. Their clothing is not only functional, but cute. If you know me I like to have fun workout and casual clothes whether it’s a witty statement or a fun pattern.

Everyday Endurance hooked me up with…

The LS Footprint tee – perfect for pulling on after a workout, or just out to run errands. I was gonna snap a pic of me in it, but it’s in the laundry. Seriously, I wear this thing like crazy!

The Chase Tee – LOVE this tee. Super soft and stretchy cotton. I wear this to lounge in, sleep in, or just out and about with a zip up hoodie over it. Plus, it has a cyclist and dogs on it… win win!

They also have a great line of ALO performance tees featuring their cute and fun designs. Here I am looking totally awesome rocking an ALO tank doing some backyard jumping jacks. Seriously, this is my life. Daisy is my boot camp instructor.

Now that you’ve seen me do jumping jacks your life is probably complete. But I’m about to make it even better!

The generous folks at Everyday Endurance have offered up a $100 gift card for a reader here at A Slice of Kiwi!!!

Here’s one more fun thing… my lovely friend Heather is up for a VIP experience at the ING NYC Marathon! Check out her blog post for deets!

Here’s how to enter to win a $100 gift card for Everyday Endurance! Leave a SEPARATE COMMENT FOR EACH THAT YOU DO. You can do as many, or as few as you’d like.

Get all your entries in for this contest by 12 PM EST next Thursday, October 13th. I’ll pick a winner that afternoon!

Disclosure: Everyday Endurance sent me these tops for review and are providing the $100 gift card for the contest winner.

I’ve missed you, yoga!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a class taught by NEO’s own Daily Downward Dog… aka Maria! We connected via twitter this winter and she let me know she would be teaching classes in Vermilion this summer! I was thrilled to learn this!

I haven’t been to a yoga class since earlier this year. I was loving class at Solaluna in Oberlin, but not loving the drive during the winter months. From there I moved my yoga practicing to home in short increments. It was refreshing to get to a real class this week!

We enjoyed warm sun and fresh air along the Vermilion river for a 50 minute session. Maria’s theme for the class was play. We focused on playing with our movements to best fit our own practice and keeping things fun. We let go of our egos and expectations and really lived in the moment.

This class was the perfect way to start the day! It was also the perfect opportunity to rock my new Lululemon goodies from Sunday’s Fun Day!

Maria holds classes on the beach on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at the Firefly Resort in Huron, just west of Vermilion. Classes are $10 each, or buy 10 classes for $80. I’ll definitely be doing some downward facing dogs on the beach with Maria quite soon!

So tell me, what’s your favorite yoga move? Or if you’ve never done yoga have you wanted to?

My favorite move is a tie between child’s pose (for relaxing) and tree pose (for feeling strong).

*Disclosure: I was not asked to review this yoga class and did not attend for free. I just wanted to share! Opinions are my own.

Happy National Running day to all my running buddies! I started my day with a little snoop joggy jog myself. If you run marathons or around the block you’re still a runner! And it’s never too late to start running either. So what better way to celebrate this awesome day than with a running themed giveaway?!

This giveaway is for my fellow ladies, esp the runners. Or those who have a special runner gal in their life! (Lucky you, if so!)

The ladies from Crave the Cute hair bows have just come out with their very own Run Like a Girl bows. Now I’m a total sucker for cute running things so these were SCREAMING my name! “BUY ME, BUY ME!” So I listened and scooped up two for myself…

Then the lovely Jenny from Crave the Cute sent me TWO FREE BOWS TO GIVE AWAY to my awesome readers. Jenny is a runner herself who recently ran a few half marathons, is a mom to super cute little gal, works full time and is going to school! … and she finds time to make these adorable bows.

The bows range from $3-7, depending on what you want. They do custom orders of all kinds, or just browse their site for tons of options! Also, they do all kinds of cute bows, not just ‘running’ ones!

Here are the two bows I’m giving away:

Get your snack on! (& Giveaway!)

It’s no secret I love to snack. Working from home as really turned me into a grazer. This can be a bad thing, but as long as I have healthy snacks around it’s not so bad. That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to share Sargento’s Fridge Packs with my readers!

100_0100

Having these handy and healthy snacks staring me in the face when I open the fridge is awesome! I’m a big fan of string cheese, and it usually gets lost in the shuffle in one of the fridge drawers and I end up grabbing something less healthy.

I’m a sucker for fun packaging too so I loved these right away!

100_0101

Now, get EXCITED… giveaway! I have two fabulous prizes for my readers!

I’m giving away a coupon for a free Sargento fridge pack AND a $25 gift card to The Container Store! I’ll pick two lucky winners This Thursday, June 2nd. Here’s how to enter, leave a separate comment for each entry.

  • Leave a comment telling me your favorite summertime snack!
